I make work about intimate encounters between people, places and things. I collect stories, words, and movements and find synchronicities among them. I am attracted to the sincere gravity and exaggerated sentimentality of emotional transition, such as heartbreak and loss and use poetic language to complicate this precarious relationship. In my text-based installations language enters the viewers physical space in the form of paper letters while maintaining closeness to the symbolic space of the page both in materiality and literary presence. Thus language becomes a mediating factor as well as an experience. In my video work I utilize a purely visual language of movement and light to explore these emotional states. I use the body and architectural elements as vehicles for rhythm, mood, and tone. I use these tropes of poetic language to insight visceral and intuitive responses, which expose the complexities of emotion and experience.
